Abstract: The present invention discloses an IoT-based real-time tracking system for E-Carts used in waste management systems of smart cities. The system is designed to continuously monitor the geographical location, movement, route, and operational status of E-Carts involved in municipal waste collection and transportation. Each E- Cart is equipped with a GPS/GNSS module, microcontroller, wireless communication unit, and optionally configured sensors for acquiring relevant operational information. The collected data is transmitted through a suitable wireless communication network to a centralized cloud or server platform for processing, storage, and visualization. Authorized municipal personnel can monitor E-Carts through a web-based or mobile application that displays their real-time positions on a digital map and provides route and operational information. The system can compare the current location with predefined collection routes or zones to identify events such as route deviation, prolonged inactivity, or unauthorized movement and generate alerts when predefined conditions occur.
