MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631090771 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Rourkela on July 26, 2026, for Iot Based Intelligent Early Leakage Detection System In Slurry Pipeline.
Inventors include Debiprasad Priyabrata Acharya; Shivbrat Ratha; and Satya Prakash Mahapatra.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT IOT BASED INTELLIGENT EARLY LEAKAGE DETECTION SYSTEM IN SLURRY PIPELINE The present invention relates to an IoT-based intelligent early leakage detection system (101) for slurry pipelines (102), particularly fly ash slurry pipelines used in thermal power plants. The system comprises a plurality of flow monitoring IoT nodes (103) having electromagnetic flow sensors (104), data acquisition boards (105), analog-to-digital converters (106), programmable microcontrollers (108), and wireless communication modules (110) configured to acquire and transmit real-time slurry flow data to a remote monitoring server (113). The remote monitoring server (113) comprises a machine learning engine (116) implementing a One-Class Support Vector Machine (OCSVM)-based anomaly detection framework (117) trained substantially on no-leak operational data for identifying leakage-related anomalies. A multi-alert IoT node (120) generates notifications through alarms, SMS, email, and graphical dashboards. The invention enables real-time leakage detection, reduced false alarms, remote monitoring, and proactive maintenance of long-distance slurry pipeline networks.
