MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641053394 A) filed by Nandha Engineering College on April 27, 2026, for Iot Based Early Alerting System For Land Slide In Hilly Region.
Inventors include S. Brindha; D Rahul; and B Harish Ragavendra.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an Internet of Things (loT)-based early alerting system designed for landslide detection in hilly regions. Landslides are primarily caused by changes in soil moisture, ground vibration, and environmental conditions, and conventional monitoring methods are often manual, slow, and umeliable. The proposed system provides an automated and real-time solution to overcome these limitations. The system integrates multiple sensors, including a soil moisture sensor, a piezoelectric vibration sensor, and a temperature and humidity sensor (DHTl 1), to continuously monitor environmental parameters that influence soil stability. These sensors are interfaced with an ESP8266 microcontroller, which processes the collected data and transmits it to a cloud platform using wireless communication. The system continuously analyzes sensor data based on predefined threshold values to detect abnormal conditions that may indicate a potential landslide. When such conditions are identified, the system generates immediate alerts to users through a mobile application, such as Blynk, enabling remote monitoring and quick response. Additionally, local warning mechanisms, including a buzzer and LED indicators, are activated to provide on-site alerts. The use of multi-sensor data fusion improves the accuracy and reliability of landslide prediction while reducing false alarms. The system is designed to be low-cost, energy-efficient, and easy to deploy in remote and high-risk hilly areas. This invention offers a practical and effective solution for early landslide detection, helping to reduce risks to human life, infrastructure, and the environment by enabling timely evacuation and preventive measures.s
