Abstract: The present invention relates to an IoT-based automatic water leakage detection and prevention system for detecting water leakage and automatically controlling the water supply. The system comprises one or more water leakage sensors, an optional water flow sensor, a microcontroller, a motorized valve, motor driver, power supply, alert unit, and wireless communication module. The leakage sensors continuously monitor the presence of unwanted water in selected areas, while the flow sensor may monitor abnormal water flow through a pipeline. When leakage is detected, the sensor signals are received and processed by the microcontroller. The detected values are compared with predetermined threshold conditions to confirm the leakage. Upon confirmation, the microcontroller activates the motor driver to automatically close the motorized valve, thereby stopping or reducing the water supply. At the same time, the system generates a local alert through a buzzer, LED, or display and transmits a notification to a smartphone, computer, or remote monitoring system through an IoT communication network. The system may store leakage events, sensor readings, valve status, and time information for future analysis. A manual or remote reset function can be provided to reopen the valve after the leakage has been corrected. The proposed system provides real-time monitoring, automatic leakage prevention, remote notification, reduced water wastage, and improved protection against water-related damage. The invention is applicable to homes, apartments, industries, hospitals, hotels, commercial buildings, irrigation systems, and water distribution networks.
