Abstract: An Internet of Things (IoT)-based automated medicine reminder and dispensing system for improving medication adherence is disclosed. The system comprises an embedded controller, a real-time clock (RTC) module, a plurality of medicine storage compartments, servo-actuated dispensing mechanisms, visual and audible notification units, a local Wi-Fi communication module, and a captive web portal for offline configuration of medication schedules. The controller compares real-time information with stored schedules to generate compartment-specific reminders, actuate the corresponding medicine compartment, and record medication intake. A configurable snooze mechanism temporarily suppresses audible alerts while maintaining visual reminders, and an automatic unattended reminder management process executes multiple reminder cycles before recording a missed dose. A refill mode simultaneously opens all medicine compartments without affecting stored schedules or adherence records. The system operates without continuous Internet connectivity and provides reliable medication scheduling, intelligent dispensing, adherence monitoring, and user-friendly configuration, thereby reducing medication errors and improving patient compliance in home and healthcare environments.
