Abstract: The present invention relates to an Internet of Things (IoT)-based air quality monitoring and pollution alert system configured to continuously monitor atmospheric conditions, detect harmful pollutants, predict future air quality levels, and generate automated warning notifications for improving environmental safety and public health. The system comprises an ESP32 embedded controller, MQ-2 gas sensor, MQ-135 gas sensor, DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor, Wi-Fi communication module, cloud-based monitoring platform, machine learning prediction module, LCD display, and audible alert mechanism. During operation, the sensing modules continuously acquire environmental parameters including harmful gas concentration, temperature, and humidity, which are processed by the embedded controller and transmitted to a cloud platform for real-time monitoring and storage. A machine learning model analyzes historical and real-time environmental data to predict future pollution levels and identify hazardous atmospheric conditions before they become critical. Whenever measured or predicted pollution exceeds predefined safety thresholds, the system automatically activates local audible alarms and transmits warning notifications with precautionary information to registered users through a mobile application. The modular architecture supports seamless integration with smart city infrastructure, environmental monitoring networks, cloud computing platforms, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and future Internet of Things ecosystems. The invention provides a reliable, economical, scalable, and efficient environmental monitoring solution capable of enhancing pollution surveillance, improving public awareness, supporting preventive environmental management, and reducing health risks associated with prolonged exposure to hazardous air pollutants.
