Abstract: The present invention relates to an Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) based smart waste management and route optimization system for efficient collection, monitoring, segregation, and transportation of municipal solid waste. The proposed system comprises smart waste bins equipped with ultrasonic level sensors, gas sensors, weight sensors, temperature sensors, GPS modules, wireless communication modules, and a cloud-based monitoring platform. The sensors continuously collect real-time data regarding waste level, bin occupancy, odor concentration, fire hazards, and geographical location. Artificial Intelligence algorithms process the collected data to predict bin filling patterns, identify overflow risks, classify waste categories, and generate optimized collection schedules. A route optimization engine determines the shortest and most fuel-efficient collection routes for waste collection vehicles based on bin priority, traffic conditions, and vehicle capacity constraints. The system further provides automated alerts, dashboard visualization, predictive analytics, and environmental monitoring capabilities. The invention significantly reduces operational costs, fuel consumption, manpower requirements, collection delays, and environmental pollution while improving municipal waste management efficiency and sustainability.
