MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641119940 A) filed by Saranathan College Of Engineering on October 07, 2026, for Iot And Ai-Driven Smart Food Shelf-Life Prediction And Restaurant Inventory Optimization.

Inventors include V. Ranjani; K. Vijayaragavan; Dr. G. Mahesh; Harini Saminathan; Akshita R; and Avandhika Sri S.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an integrated Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, and generative artificial intelligence system and method for real-time perishable food spoilage prediction and automated restaurant inventory optimization-The system deploys edge microcontrollers equipped-.-with temperature, relative humidity, and volatile gas concentration sensors to continuously sample ambient storage environments and transmit telemetry payloads. The received telemetry is processed by a machine learning regression engine utilizing gradient boosted decision trees to predict real-time remaining shelf-life hours for perishable food items. The predicted spoilage outcomes are processed by an automated inventory math engine that evaluates expected spoilage losses against customer demand logs to calculate optimal reorder quantities and shift-aware usable stock. Furthermore, a generative artificial intelligence engine converts the analytical predictions into natural-language action directives for kitchen staff and automated supplier purchase order drafts, while executive dashboards track daily waste costs and financial savings.
