MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621071025 A) filed by Iti K. Patel; Shubham A. Mehta; and Dr. Gautam M. Patel on June 08, 2026, for Ionic Liquid [bmim]oac Promoted Buchwald-Hartwig Amination Of Chloro-Pyridines.
Inventors include Iti K. Patel; Shubham A. Mehta; and Dr. Gautam M. Patel.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the technical field of synthetic organic chemistry, specifically providing a highly efficient method for synthesizing heterocyclic aminated compounds. The technical advancement lies in a transition-metal-free, microwave-assisted cross-coupling amination that entirely eliminates expensive palladium catalysts, complex ligands, and harsh inorganic bases. The method comprises mixing equimolar quantities of a secondary amine and a chloro-pyridine substrate (200, 301, 401). The reaction medium is prepared by adding the ionic liquid [BMIM]OAc as a synergistic base and promoter, alongside DMF solvent (202, 302, 402). Subjecting the mixture to microwave irradiation at 200w for exactly 12 to 27 minutes (204, 303, 403) significantly accelerates reaction kinetics. Following liquid-liquid extraction (503) and purification via silica gel column chromatography (602), pure products are isolated (206, 304, 404). The principal use of this invention is the cost-effective, high-yield (89.45%-95.80%) and ecologically sustainable industrial synthesis of pharmacologically relevant piperazine and indole derivatives.
