Abstract: The present invention relates to a system designed to investigate muscle activity and assess low back pain in taxi drivers during prolonged vehicle operations. The system employs EMG sensors to capture muscle signals from specific spinal regions such as L 1, L3, and LS, where muscle strain is commonly experienced during driving. The acquired data undergoes multiple signals processing steps, including detrending, rectification, and low-pass filtering using a 5th-order filter to reduce noise and enhance signal clarity. A structured data format with approximately 316,000 data points per channel ensures precision and consistency throughout the analysis. The system further incorporates a feature extraction module that computes key metrics such as Root Mean Square (RMS) and Mean Frequency, aiding in the identification of muscle tattgue parterres aud potential causes oh hiscomfort. Additionally, the system integrates a visualization module that generates comprehensive graphical outputs for raw, detrended, rectified, and filtered signals, allowing researchers and medical professionals to analyse muscle behaviour effectively. The system is also designed to handle edge cases like missing data entries, extreme signal spikes, and noisy data to ensure stable performance. This invention is intended to support healthcare providers, ergonomic designers, and researchers in developing improved seating arrangements and preventive strategies to reduce low back pain risks in professional drivers exposed to prolonged sitting postures.
