MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617066689 A) filed by Endresshauser Flowtec AG on May 27, 2026, for Intrinsically Safe, Explosion-Protected Universal Power Supply Unit With Individually (de)activatable Channels.

Inventors include Tanner, Lukas; and Lngst, Joachim.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: The power supply unit comprises a supply circuit (100) for providing an internal operating voltage, a protective circuit, two selection circuits (311, 312), two energy flow monitoring circuits (321, 322) and a control circuit (400), wherein by means of the supply circuit, the protective circuit, the selection circuit (311) and monitoring circuit (321) a selectively activatable first protected supply path of the power supply unit is formed and by means of the supply circuit, the protective circuit, the selection circuit (312) and monitoring circuit (322) a selectively activatable second protected supply path of the power supply unit is formed, and wherein the control circuit (400) is configured, inter alia, to output, in a first operating mode, a selection signal which activates the first supply path and, in an (alternative) second operating mode, a selection signal which activates the second supply path. Each of the monitoring circuits (321, 322) is also configured to monitor a respective energy flow based on at least one respective (energy flow) parameter, specifically to ascertain whether the at least one (energy flow) parameter has exceeded at least one respective (energy flow) threshold value and optionally to output an error signal signalling this to the protective circuit. The protective circuit is also configured, controlled by one or more of the error signals, to switch from a first operating mode, in which a load input of the protective circuit is electrically connected through to a load output of the protective circuit, said load output being electrically connected to a load output of the supply circuit, to a second operating mode, in which the load input or the load output connected thereto of the supply circuit is short-circuited and thus to interrupt equally each of the first and second supply path.
