A catheter hub (108) includes wings extending laterally therefrom for fixation and stabilization against a patient's skin. The assembly (100) includes an injection port with a protective cap (110) for medication administration without disconnecting an intravenous line, a flexible catheter (112) extending from the catheter hub (108) and configured to remain within the vein after needle withdrawal, a bushing (114) for guiding needle withdrawal while leaving the catheter (112) intact, and a skin-friendly adhesive element (118) for securing the cannula to the patient.
