Abstract: ABSTRACT INTRAORAL ORTHODONTIC MEASURING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUS MEASUREMENT OF OVERJET AND OVERBITE The present invention is directed toward an intraoral orthodontic measuring device and technique capable of determining overjet and overbite simultaneously. In accordance with one exemplary embodiment, the present invention comprises an upper reference means, a lower reference means, a self-aligning incisal alignment means, a vertical measuring carriage, a dual axis calibrated measuring system, an anti-tilting guiding means, a simultaneous measurement means, a locking means, and an orthodontic coordinate plane generating means. In particular, the self-aligning incisal alignment means serves to position and orient the device with respect to opposing incisors, whereas the orthodontic coordinate plane generating means functions to set up a common intraoral reference framework including a horizontal and a vertical reference axis that intersect. Furthermore, the simultaneous measurement means serves to make simultaneous measurements of horizontal and vertical incisal projections through a single positioning step. The present invention further includes open bite and deep bite analysis means, and intelligent orthodontic analysis means. Fig. 3
