Abstract: Intra and inter prediction of attributes of points of 3D blocks of a 3D point cloud is proposed in the context of the encoding or the decoding of the attributes in a parallelisable way, independently of the geometry. The volume of the 3D point cloud is divided in blocks. The geometry is compressed and a 3D image represented as a transform function is generated for each block. According to the present principles, theses 3D images are inter or intra predicted according to a set of prediction modes.
