MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631114702 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Nit Silchar on September 24, 2026, for Internet Of Things-Based Smart Swing System And Its Operational Method Thereof.

Inventors include Dr. Sushant Negi; Navya Ann Cherian; Vishal Mishra; and Kalyan Chakraborty.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The smart swing system and method is developed for paediatric sensory therapeutic applications. The system comprises an inverted U-shaped support frame (102) integrated with a motorized oscillation mechanism and a pod-shaped swing seat (106) suspended from a rotatable output shaft (104A) through a mechanical gear assembly (104B). An acoustic cry sensor (116) continuously detects infant distress sounds and transmits corresponding signals to a controlling unit (108). Upon detecting acoustic signals exceeding a user-defined threshold, the controlling unit communicates alert notifications to a remote computing device (114) through a cloud server network (112) and receives angular position control commands via an IoT-enabled wireless transceiver module (110). The motor (104) actuates controlled pendular oscillation of the swing seat according to received commands. The system further incorporates safety threshold control, torque-enhancing gear reduction, filtered cry detection circuitry, and lightweight 3D-printed recycled thermoplastic structural components for safe, intelligent, and remotely manageable infant sensory therapy.
