MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641115355 A) filed by Sri Eshwar College Of Engineering on September 24, 2026, for Intelligent Wind Vane-Based System For Wind Direction Monitoring In Renewable Energy Applications.

Inventors include Dr. A. Subashini; Dr. C. Gokila; and Dr. S. Vinnarasi.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present invention concerns an intelligent wind vane-based system for real time monitoring the wind direction in renewable energy applications. It is a system that includes a wind vane assembly and a rotation shaft, an angular position sensing unit, a processing controller, a calibration unit, a communication module, a data storage unit, an intelligent analysis module, and an alert generation module. When the wind blows, the wind vane will turn, and the angular-position sensing unit will sense the angle. Processing controller translates the detected position value into a standard wind-direction value, filters, calibrates, normalizes and validates signals. The intelligent analysis module analyzes real-time and historical wind-direction data to calculate prevailing direction, directional variation, directional stability and fast directional changes. The information processed is stored and sent to a remote monitoring platform via an appropriate communication network. The system can detect abnormal sensor conditions, and provide automatic alert messages. The wind-direction information could be provided to wind-turbine monitoring and control systems to assist with turbine orientation, wind-resource assessment, and management of renewable energy. The invention offers an integrated, scalable solution for automated wind-direction sensing, intelligent processing of the data, remote monitoring and applications in renewable energy.
