MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511024465 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on March 19, 2025, for Intelligent Waste Management System.
Inventors include Pardeep Kumar; Tanima Thakur; and Sandeep Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an intelligent waste management system (100) including a plurality of IoT (Internet of Things)-enabled waste bins (110), each configured with at least one ultrasonic sensor for detecting fill levels, an optical or RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)sensor for contamination detection, and a temperature sensor for monitoring hazardous waste conditions. Embodiments may also include a low-power wireless communication module (120) utilizing LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network), NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things), or an equivalent protocol for transmitting sensor data to a remote cloud-based processing unit. Embodiments may also include a cloud-based machine learning module (150) configured to analyze waste accumulation patterns, predict fill levels, and optimize collection schedules based on historical and real-time data. The system (100) ensures well-maintained, sustainable urban environments that promotes responsible production and waste reduction, further the system helps mitigate the environmental impact of waste management activities.
