MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641074808 A) filed by Mohan Babu University on June 17, 2026, for Intelligent Traffic Signal System With Ai For Dynamic Traffic Flow Management.

Inventors include Dr. Kavitha Kothandasamy; Mr. Sana Sunil Kumar; Mr. Amboru Koushik; Mr. Annam Varun Kumar; and Mr. Padaga Sri Sai Sankar.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: This project introduces a Smart AI-Driven Traffic Signal Control System that dynamically manages traffic lights based on real-time road conditions. Unlike traditional fixed-timer systems, it uses AI (YOLO) to detect and classify vehicles such as bikes, cars, and trucks at intersections. Each vehicle type is assigned a weight based on size and time needed to cross. A fuzzy logic algorithm then calculates the traffic load in each lane and adjusts the green light duration accordingly giving priority to lanes with more or heavier vehicles. IoT sensors continuously monitor traffic, and the system adapts in real time, reducing congestion, fuel usage, and emissions. All traffic data is logged and integrated into a smart city cloud for analysis and future improvements. This intelligent system offers a scalable, automated solution for efficient urban traffic management.
