MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611101515 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 22, 2026, for Intelligent Self-Adjusting Foam Roller With Closed-Loop Adaptive Firmness Control.
Inventors include Taniya Wadhwa; Prince Sarker; and Dr. Gurpreet Singh.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent self-adjusting foam roller configured to automatically regulate its structural firmness during rehabilitation, physiotherapy, sports recovery, and myofascial release. The foam roller comprises an outer foam layer, an inner structural shell, a plurality of pressure sensors, an adaptive firmness adjustment mechanism, a control unit, a rechargeable power source, a wireless communication module, an internal pneumatic chamber, a charging interface, and a visual status indicator. The pressure sensors continuously acquire pressure data, which are processed by the control unit to generate a real-time pressure distribution profile. The control unit compares the pressure distribution profile with a predetermined therapeutic pressure range and dynamically actuates the adaptive firmness adjustment mechanism in a closed-loop feedback cycle to modify the structural firmness of the foam roller. The invention maintains substantially uniform therapeutic pressure, improves rehabilitation consistency and user comfort, and eliminates manual firmness adjustment during therapy.
