Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of an intelligent reservation management system for railway reservation forecasting and dynamic seat allocation that increases the effectiveness, accuracy, and transparency of railway reservation systems using artificial intelligence and forecasting techniques. This framework captures the historical record of booklets, travel behavior of passengers, train occupancy details, seasonal demand, cancellation trends, and live reservation information from various sources. A machine learning forecasting system forecasts the demand for seats, waiting list movements, and chances of cancellations depending upon the route and travel time. Depending upon the forecasted availability, the dynamic seat allocation system makes an effective allocation of seats based on the factors such as preferences of passengers, quota allocations, coach occupancy equilibrium, group bookings, etc. The system continuously allocates the seats depending upon the cancellation of reservations and new reservation requests and thus makes best use of seats in terms of minimum vacant berths.
