Abstract: Intelligent Railway Track Crack Detection and Predictive Maintenance System Using Robotic Inspection, GPS, GSM and Defect Severity Classification ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an automated railway track monitoring system and method for detecting cracks, fissures, and obstacles using a mobile robotic inspection platform. The system comprises a crack detection module, a location tracking module, a wireless communication module, an intelligent defect classification module, and a central processing unit integrated within a robotic vehicle configured to travel along railway tracks. During operation, the crack detection module continuously scans the rail surface to identify structural discontinuities. Upon detecting a defect, the location tracking module determines the precise geographical coordinates, while the communication module transmits real-time alerts to a remote monitoring station for prompt maintenance. The intelligent defect classification module categorizes detected defects according to severity levels and supports predictive maintenance planning. The system operates autonomously under diverse environmental conditions, including tunnels, bridges, mountainous regions, and remote railway corridors, reducing manual inspection, improving detection accuracy, enabling early fault identification, and enhancing railway operational safety through continuous monitoring.
