The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: A hybrid predictive framework for estimating compressive strength of additively manufactured polymer lattice structures fabricated via Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) integrates machine learning regression models with metaheuristic optimization algorithms. Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Decision Tree (DT) regression models are trained on experimental data from 25 FDM-printed polylactic acid (PLA) lattice specimens. Input features comprise infill density, infill pattern, strut diameter, and strut type. Hyperparameters are optimized using Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Simulated Annealing (SA), and Cohort Intelligence (CI). Model validation employs nested cross-validation with 5-fold outer and 3-fold inner loops. The SVM-GA hybrid achieves R² of 0.874 ± 0.02. SHAP analysis identifies infill density as the dominant predictor with mean absolute SHAP value of 5.66 MPa.
