Abstract: The accelerating adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) necessitates transformative charging solutions that overcome the limitations of conventional plug-in infrastructure. This paper proposes a novel Smart Road architecture enabling dynamic, contactless charging of EVs through inductive wireless power transfer (WPT). The system integrates optimally designed road-embedded transmitter coils with vehicle-mounted receiver coils to achieve efficient energy transfer under dynamic conditions. A key innovation lies in the sensor-driven selective activation of coil segments, which significantly reduces idle power dissipation and enhances system efficiency. Furthermore, a closed-loop battery management system (BMS) ensures real-time regulation of charging parameters, improving battery safety, lifespan, and energy utilization. The proposed design addresses critical challenges in dynamic WPT systems, including alignment tolerance, energy efficiency, and infrastructure scalability. Experimental validation demonstrates stable power transfer with promising efficiency across varying operating conditions, highlighting the system’s feasibility for real- world deployment. By enabling continuous in-motion charging, the system mitigates range anxiety, reduces reliance on large onboard battery storage and minimizes vehicle downtime. This work contributes a scalable and energy-efficient framework for next-generation intelligent transportation infrastructure, aligning with smart city initiatives and sustainable mobility goals. The proposed Smart Road system presents a significant advancement toward seamless, autonomous, and eco-friendly EV ecosystems.
