MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621056348 A) filed by Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute Of Technology, Pimpri, Pune - on May 04, 2026, for Intelligent Multi-Model Farm Intrusion Prevention System.
Inventors include Mrs. Swati D. Khairnar; Mr. Dattatray Nikam; and Ms. Shraddha Shingne.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present invention is an Intelligent Multi-Model Farm Intrusion Prevention System that provides automated protection against unwanted animal intrusion into an agricultural field. The result is that many farmers are unable to mitigate the loss of crops due to the intrusion of large grazing animals (e.g., cattle, boars, monkeys, elephants, etc.) on their land. Traditional methods of mitigating this loss (e.g., fencing, scarecrows, guarding animals) are often ineffective, costly, or labor-intensive. The invention utilizes a Camera- based Surveillance Unit and an Artificial Intelligence-based Detection Model (YOLO) to identify and classify intrusions from animals in real-time. The system also incorporates additional sensors (e.g., PIR, ultrasonic, infrared) to enhance the accuracy of the system's performance in lowlight or poor visibility conditions. When an intrusion is observed, the detection unit sends commands to a microcontroller (e.g., Arduino, ESP32) that initiates the appropriate countermeasures (e.g., water sprinklers, sound alarms, bright lights) based on the type of intruder identified. The system also transmits immediate alerts along with images of the intruder to the owner via IoT Functionality, such as GSM or WiFi Modules, allowing them to take immediate and proactive measures against the intrusion. The invention provides a cost-effective, safe, and versatile approach to the protection of crops, while providing additional benefits of reducing the amount of manual effort required to monitor the area and support sustainable farming practices. Future usage of the system could include individual farms.
