Inventors include Mohanprabu Mylsamy; Dr. M. Siva Sathyanarayana; Mr. S. E. Murthy; Dr. Geeta K; Dr. Shailendra Kumar Bohidar; and Dr. P. Suresh Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an intelligent maximum power point tracking controller for photovoltaic power conversion systems. The controller includes a signal acquisition unit for receiving photovoltaic voltage and current signals, a power computation unit for computing photovoltaic power and gradients, an operating-state classifier for detecting steady-state operation, irradiance transition, partial shading, load disturbance, and converter boundary conditions, and a hybrid tracking engine for selecting fine tracking, rapid convergence, or global maximum search modes. An adaptive perturbation step generator varies duty-cycle correction according to power slope, operating condition, and proximity to the maximum power point. A global peak verification unit prevents locking at a local power peak during partial shading, while a converter protection unit limits duty-cycle commands during abnormal electrical conditions. The controller improves energy extraction, reduces steady-state oscillation, accelerates dynamic tracking, and enhances reliability of photovoltaic converters used in standalone, grid-connected, battery-charging, and microgrid applications.
