MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641106270 A) filed by Rajalakshmi Engineering College on September 03, 2026, for Intelligent Iot-Based Intravenous Fluid Monitoring, Prediction And Clinical Alert System.

Inventors include Dr. P. Kumar; and C Vignesh.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses an Intelligent IoT-Based Intravenous Fluid Monitoring, Prediction and Clinical Alert System for real-time monitoring and predictive management of intravenous fluid administration. The system comprises a load cell sensing module for measuring fluid bag weight, a flow sensing module for monitoring infusion rate, an embedded processing unit, a wireless communication module, a cloud monitoring platform, an artificial intelligence prediction engine and a clinical alert engine. The load cell and flow sensor continuously acquire fluid administration parameters and transmit the processed information to a cloud-connected monitoring infrastructure through IoT communication networks. The artificial intelligence prediction engine analyses real-time and historical monitoring data to estimate remaining fluid volume, predict depletion time, determine infusion completion duration and identify abnormal infusion conditions including blockage, leakage, interrupted flow, excessive flow and sensor failure. Upon detection of critical conditions, the clinical alert engine automatically generates notifications through nursing dashboards, mobile applications, SMS services and hospital management systems. The invention provides continuous monitoring, predictive analytics, automated alert generation, centralized supervision of multiple intravenous stations and enhanced patient safety. The invention further reduces healthcare workload, improves infusion management efficiency and provides a technical solution for real-time monitoring and control of clinical infusion devices. The invention is applicable to hospitals, intensive care units, emergency healthcare facilities, ambulatory care centres and home healthcare environments.
