MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641097815 A) filed by New Horizon College Of Engineering on August 13, 2026, for Intelligent Hybrid Regenerative Braking System For Electric Vehicles With Adaptive Multi-Source Energy Routing.

Inventors include Veena M H; and Bharat Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent hybrid regenerative braking system for 5 electric vehicles incorporating an adaptive energy routing mechanism for efficient recovery, storage, and utilization of electrical energy generated during braking. The system comprises a regenerative braking unit, a bridge rectifier and filter unit, a hybrid energy storage arrangement including a battery pack and a supercapacitor bank, a piezoelectric energy harvesting unit, sensing modules, an intelligent switching and routing unit, and a 10 controller configured to monitor operating parameters including battery voltage, charging current, supercapacitor voltage, regenerative current, braking intensity, and load conditions. Based on the monitored parameters, the controller dynamically routes the recovered energy to the battery, the supercapacitor, or both, while providing protection against overcurrent, overvoltage, and reverse current conditions.
