Abstract: Abstract This project creates an Intelligent Grid-Aware Smart Energy Meter. This is a combination of smart energy meters, peak load prediction, and the optimization of energy consumption. The meter measures voltage, current, power, power factor, and energy consumption. This meter sends the measurements to a central system. The forecasting model uses historical consumption data, weather data, electricity tariffs, and grid-demand data to predict energy requirements in the near future and predict peak load periods. Based on these forecasts, an optimization module suggests or schedules flexible loads to/from household and industrial facilities in the off- peak hours with a constraint of maintaining the requirements of customers and the operational limits. This solution provides alerts for abnormal consumption, remote control, and energy saving consumption tips. The grid conditions are communicated to the users, and they can take control of their energy consumption behavior to avoid peak demands and energy wastage. The approach aims to achieve a balance between the demand and supply of energy and aims to achieve an efficient, reliable, and sustainable smart grid.
