MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641107321 A) filed by Hindustan Institute Of Technology And Science on September 07, 2026, for Intelligent Cybersecurity Metrics Framework For Strategic Decision Making And Security Management.
Inventors include Ramu Para; and Dr. Sudalaimuthu T.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides an intelligent cybersecurity metrics framework that receives cybersecurity data from a plurality of heterogeneous sources and converts such data into standardized cybersecurity metrics. The framework comprises a data acquisition module, metrics normalization module, asset and business context module, metrics correlation and analytics module, cybersecurity intelligence and scoring module, strategic decision engine, and management interface. The data acquisition module receives information from sources including, but not limited to, security information and event management systems, endpoint security systems, vulnerability management systems, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cloud security systems, identity and access management systems, application security systems, incident-management systems, compliance systems, and threat intelligence sources. The metrics normalization module converts heterogeneous security measurements into a standardized representation. The framework subsequently correlates the standardized metrics with asset criticality, business importance, threat conditions, exposure, security-control effectiveness, incident history, and organizational security requirements. Based on such correlation, the framework generates one or more cybersecurity indicators representing risk, vulnerability exposure, security posture, control effectiveness, incident readiness, compliance, resilience, or other cybersecurity conditions. A strategic decision engine analyzes the generated indicators and determines prioritized security actions, resource requirements, escalation levels, and management recommendations. The framework may further maintain historical measurements and compare current and previous cybersecurity conditions to identify trends, deviations, deteriorating controls, emerging risks, and potential future security conditions. The invention therefore provides a unified mechanism for transforming technical cybersecurity measurements into context-aware, measurable, prioritized, and strategically actionable security decisions.
