MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611104893 A) filed by Panipat Institute Of Engineering And Technology Piet on August 31, 2026, for Intelligent Autonomous System And Method For Cleaning And Monitoring Water Bodies.

Inventors include Prof. Dr. Poonam Panwar; and Prof. Dr. Satish Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides an intelligent autonomous system and method for cleaning and monitoring water bodies. The system comprises a buoyant floating platform having a propulsion assembly, controller, positioning and obstacle-detection modules, artificial intelligence-based vision module, waste collection mechanism, automatic waste segregation unit, water-quality sensors, wireless communication module and power-management arrangement. Sensor information is processed to detect and classify floating or partially submerged waste and to determine or modify a cleaning route according to waste distribution and obstacle information. Detected waste is collected and segregated into respective storage categories. Water-quality parameters are measured and associated with geographic coordinates to provide geo- tagged environmental information. Operational and environmental data are communicated to a remote computing platform. The controller monitors task completion, waste-storage capacity and available battery energy and selectively continues cleaning or autonomously returns the platform to a docking station for unloading, charging or maintenance.
