Inventors include Dr. Smitha B.; Vidhya M. P.; and Dr. Rekha G Nair.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: Abstract The present invention relates to an Intelligent Autonomous Airport Snow Collection and Disposal System with Predictive Control designed to enhance airport operational safety and efficiency during adverse winter weather conditions. The system integrates environmental monitoring sensors, snow accumulation detection units, artificial intelligence-based predictive analytics, autonomous snow collection vehicles, intelligent route optimization modules, and a centralized command and control platform to enable proactive snow management across airport operational surfaces. Real-time weather data, historical climate information, pavement conditions, and operational airport data are analyzed using machine learning algorithms to predict snowfall events, snow accumulation levels, and ice formation risks. Based on the predictions, autonomous snow collection vehicles are deployed through dynamically optimized routes to remove snow from runways, taxiways, aprons, aircraft parking areas, and service roads with minimal human intervention. The collected snow is transported to designated treatment, storage, melting, or disposal facilities through an intelligent transportation and disposal subsystem. The invention further incorporates fleet coordination, predictive maintenance, and Internet of Things (IoT)- based communication infrastructure for real-time monitoring and continuous operational optimization. The proposed system reduces snow-related disruptions, minimizes operational costs, improves resource utilization, enhances environmental compliance, and ensures uninterrupted airport operations during severe winter weather events. Accordingly, the invention provides a comprehensive, scalable, and intelligent solution for autonomous airport snow collection, transportation, and disposal management.
