MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421086340 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Bombay on May 09, 2025, for Intelligent Automated Intubation Device For Airway Management.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved supraglottic airway device (1) with an integrated endotracheal tube (2) and automated intubation control system. Insertion of such a SAD into the throat is done to establish reliable lung ventilation without causing any trauma and displacing the tongue laterally. Once inserted the laryngeal mask assembly (1a) will seal the laryngeal inlet, with its distal tip (8) covering the oesophagus to allow gastric contents to pass through it and exit from the proximal opening in the shaft (6), to prevent entry into the trachea and lungs. Inflation of the ring can be controlled to desirable levels by using the connected unidirectional spring-loaded valve, thereby preventing air leakages during ventilation. Fig. 1
