MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621028543 A) filed by Vishal Ajit Sutar; and Amol Ajit Sutar on March 10, 2026, for Integrated Spotter-Assisted Resistance Training Mechanism With Automatic Load Stabilization.
Inventors include Vishal Ajit Sutar; and Amol Ajit Sutar.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: Abstract The present invention relates to a spotter-assisted resistance training mechanism integrated with strength training equipment, particularly for exercises such as leg press, bench press, and similar load-bearing apparatus. The invention provides a mechanical assistance system configured to supplement the force applied by a user during a lifting movement, thereby enabling additional repetitions beyond muscular fatigue while maintaining controlled motion. The system comprises an auxiliary force application mechanism operable through a push–pull arrangement, wherein an external member or actuator contributes supplemental lifting force to the primary load. The total lifting force is defined as the combined force exerted by the user and the auxiliary assistance mechanism. The assistance may be manually controlled or mechanically regulated to provide incremental support without fully offloading the resistance. Additionally, the invention incorporates a weight-hold control feature configured to prevent sudden load drop in the event of user fatigue or loss of control. The system ensures that the load remains stabilized or returns to a predefined safe position, thereby enhancing user safety and reducing the risk of injury. The disclosed mechanism enables controlled assisted repetitions, improves training efficiency, and provides enhanced safety compared to conventional manual spotting methods.
