MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641084494 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on July 09, 2026, for Integrated Sensor-Based Terminal Apparatus For Item Identification, Indoor Positioning, And Transaction Processing.
Inventors include Katta Jignesh; Kanagani Ashrith Kumar; P. Sai Vahran; B Indira; and Omana J.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an apparatus includes a basket body (114), an identification unit (106) including an RFID transceiver and barcode scanner, a weight sensing unit (108) with load cells, a wireless communication unit (104), a display unit (102) touchscreen, an LED indicator (112), a power supply unit (110), and a control unit (202) including a processor (302), memory (304), and database (318). The processor cross-validates items using identification data and load-change data against stored item reference information, computes a cumulative cost value, generates an expenditure threshold alert signal, outputs terminal information on the display unit (102), provides indoor positioning-based navigation guidance via beacon signals received through the wireless communication unit (104), and transmits session transaction data to a transaction processing unit.
