MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611099290 A) filed by Noida International University on August 17, 2026, for Integrated Photosynthetic, Piezoelectric And Carbonate-Mineralising Facade Cassette.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A modular building-envelope facade cassette integrates spectrally selective photon management, photosynthetic carbon fixation, thermal buffering, piezoelectric energy harvesting, and carbonate mineralisation. A circulating photosynthetic culture medium receives carbon dioxide from ambient air or exhaust air and receives spectrally managed incident light. The medium fixes carbon dioxide, buffers solar heat transfer through the building envelope, and forms buoyancy-driven slug flow that deforms a piezoelectric membrane to generate power for cassette instrumentation. Photosynthetic activity elevates the alkalinity of the culture medium, causing calcium carbonate to precipitate in a mineralisation region on a recycled crushed-glass nucleation lattice. The precipitated calcium carbonate is recoverable as a mineral filler for cementitious construction products. The cassette is dry-mounted and is suitable for retrofit or integrated installation on institutional, commercial, and industrial buildings.
