Abstract: ABSTRACT The rapid growth of industrial activities, vehicular exhaust and urbanisation has led to a massive increase of air pollution, which is detrimental to human health and the environment. Most of the present atmospheric monitoring systems are costly and do not provide continuous real-time monitoring. This project is designed to develop an IoT-based Atmospheric Monitoring System which provides the real- time environmental data for effective pollution monitoring. The proposed system monitors temperature, humidity, methane gas, carbon monoxide and air quality using DHT11, MQ-4, MQ-9, MQ-135 sensors and ESP8266 NodeMCU microcontroller. The data collected is processed by microcontroller and the data is sent through Wi-Fi to the IoT cloud platform for remote monitoring. The data is presented on a web/mobile dashboard with buzzer and LED indicators for alerts when pollution levels cross a threshold specified. It is a compact system, low cost and energy efficient and can be used in smart city, industrial and residential applications. In the future, it can be improved by higher pollution sensors, AI- based pollution prediction, GPS tracking, and mobile notification features for better environmental monitoring.
