MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611093707 A) filed by Dinesh Kumar; and Mansi Varma on August 03, 2026, for Integrated Electromagnetic System And Related Method.
Inventor includes Dinesh Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: To eliminate mechanical clutches and reduce system mass, an integrated electromagnetic system (100) combines starting, direct-drive, and generation functions on a common rotatable shaft (110). An axial-flux section (120) and a radial-flux section (150) are separated by a non-magnetic flux separator (160). The axial-flux section (120) includes an exciter winding disc (122), a direct-drive winding disc (124), and a shared permanent magnet assembly (126) disposed between them. Rim-mounted starter coupling permanent magnets (130) on the direct-drive winding disc (124) interact with a stator-mounted starter winding (140). A controller (180) energizes the starter winding (140) to initiate rotation, electronically transitions to a direct-drive mode, and reverses polarity for frictionless electromagnetic braking. A rectifier (170) converts alternating current from the exciter winding disc (122) into direct current supplied in series to a radial-flux field winding (152) and the direct-drive winding disc (124), inducing output current in a stator-mounted output winding (154).
