Abstract: An integrated breeding apparatus (100, 200) for breeding insects comprises an enclosed chamber (102) defining an internal volume (102V), and a lighting module (104) disposed within the enclosed chamber (102). The lighting module (104) includes a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) units (106) configured to emit radiation simultaneously in a plurality of spectral bands and operate below a rated maximum power. A climate control module (108) regulates environmental parameters within the internal volume (102V). An egg collection assembly (110) comprises a plurality of thin strips (112) of dark and non-porous material arranged in a parallel configuration to define an inter-strip gap (502) therebetween. An attractant arrangement (114) is positioned proximate to the egg collection assembly (110). An emergence assembly (116) includes at least one pupation enclosure (118) connected to the enclosed chamber (102) through a tunnel (120) having a sensing mechanism (122) configured to detect pupal eclosion.
