MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089926 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 23, 2026, for Ingestible Capsule With Sensor Array And Controller For Conditional Site Specific Drug Release.

Abstract: An ingestible gastrointestinal capsule (100) for conditional site-specific drug release is disclosed. The capsule (100) includes an enteric outer shell (200) having a sensor window (300), a sensor set (400) comprising a pH sensor (500), temperature sensor (600), transit-time sensor (700) and pressure sensor (800), one or more drug reservoir chambers (1500), a release mechanism (1200), a low-power controller (1000) and a wireless logging unit (1600). The low-power controller (1000) receives sensor signals through a power-gated sensor interface (1140), compares the signals with stored site-specific threshold profiles and derives a multi-factor location signature. A reservoir gate (1230) is opened only when concurrent conditions of pH trend, elapsed transit time, body-temperature range and pressure-pulse pattern are satisfied and an activation switch (1700) is armed. The release mechanism (1200) may include a frangible membrane (1300), micro-valve (1400), fail-locked bias element (1220) and release-state detector (1210). (Accompanied Figure No. 1 to 4)
