Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device for suppressing infrared signatures generated by combustible exhaust gas of a marine vessel. The device comprises a cylindrical funnel assembly (200) including a bottom cylindrical funnel (202) configured to receive the combustible exhaust gas from the marine vessel (100), a top cylindrical funnel (206) configured to discharge the exhaust gas with a suppressed infrared signature, and a middle cylindrical funnel (204) disposed therebetween; and a conical funnel assembly (300) including a bottom conical funnel (302) disposed between the bottom cylindrical funnel (202) and the middle cylindrical funnel (204), and a top conical funnel (304) disposed between the middle cylindrical funnel (204) and the top cylindrical funnel (206). The cylindrical funnel assembly (200) and the conical funnel assembly (300) are concentrically aligned along a vertical axis to define a continuous exhaust-gas flow path, and each of the funnels is provided with a plurality of circumferentially distributed peripheral holes, each peripheral hole having a diameter of 194 mm, being configured to admit ambient air into the exhaust-gas flow path to promote mixing and cooling of the combustible exhaust gas, thereby reducing the temperature and infrared radiation intensity of the exhaust gas before its release into atmosphere.
