Abstract: An indoor mobility assistance device (100) and a method (500) for guiding a visually impaired user within an indoor environment are disclosed. The device (100) receives a spoken navigation command and classifies the command as either a destination-based navigation command or an object-based navigation command. A processing unit (112) determines a corresponding navigation target and generates a navigation path using environmental information acquired by a sensor assembly (108). The navigation path is continuously updated in response to changes within indoor environment while controlling movement of a mobile robotic platform (102) to physically guide the user through a cane (106). The disclosed device (100) and method (500) enable reliable autonomous indoor navigation, adaptive obstacle avoidance, and continuous physical guidance. The invention provides improved navigation accuracy, enhanced operational safety, efficient navigation in dynamic indoor environments, reduced dependence on external assistance, and improved accessibility and mobility for visually impaired users.
