MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541070699 A) filed by P V Radhakrishnan on July 25, 2025, for Inclined Duct Integrated To V Shaped Wave Build-Up Wall For Wave Energy Harvesting.

Inventors include P V Radhakrishnan; and Dr. Senthil Prakash M N.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT An inclined duct-integrated V-shaped wave build-up wall for wave energy harvesting is disclosed. The invention comprises a V-shaped wave build-up wall having two converging wall members defining a wider entrance region and a convergence region, and at least one inclined duct integrated at or adjacent to the convergence region. Incident ocean waves entering the wider entrance region are concentrated toward the convergence region, thereby increasing wave height and wave power density. The inclined duct receives a portion of the concentrated wave flow and provides an alternative flow path that reduces wave reflection at the convergence region, thereby increasing the usable wave energy available for harvesting. The inclined duct may have different cross-sectional geometries and may be arranged singly or in multiples. The system may be installed on an existing or newly constructed breakwater and may be used in conjunction with one or more wave energy conversion devices, including heaving buoy systems, oscillating water column systems, hydraulic turbines, air turbines, or other suitable wave energy converters, for generating electrical power.
