Abstract: The present invention pertains to the fields of molecular biology and medicine. More specifically, the present invention discloses a kit and an in vitro diagnostic and/or prognostic process for tumors in liquid biological samples, being particularly useful for the diagnosis and/or prognosis of breast cancer. The process comprises a step of quantifying the genetic expression of HIF1a and comparison with a predetermined level, optionally combined with the expression level and other markers. In one embodiment, dPCR is used for quantification. The present invention provides a novel and improved strategy for tracking cancer, particularly breast cancer, being useful for both clinical work and research.
