MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411095296 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 03, 2024, for In-Vehicle Infotainment Centralized Call Handler System For Managing Calls And A Method Thereof.
Inventors include Abhishek Chandra Kakol; Akshat Shah; and Vinothkumar Mani.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an in-vehicle infotainment centralized call handler system (100) for managing calls. The system (100) comprises a centralized call handler (CCH) unit (104) that communicates with a plurality of human machine interfaces (HMI) (102) and a plurality of calling communication system (110). The CCH unit (104) is configured to resolve a conflict when one or more new calls are initiated from the communication systems (110), during an active call in the system (100), by processing the new calls in accordance with a predefined priority assigned among the communication systems (110). The CCH unit (104) comprises two standard interfaces: a HMI interface (106) and a call interface (108), to be implemented by the plurality of HMI interfaces (102), and the communication systems (110), respectively. The system (100) simplifies the inclusion of new calling system, through interface standardization and centralized call management for high priority calls and co-existence cases. FIG. 1
