Abstract: The invention provides an innovative in-situ composting pit system for efficient orchard waste management, designed to recycle organic material into nutrient-rich compost directly within the orchard. Rectangular pits, measuring 2 m × 1.5 m × 2 m, are strategically placed between sets of four consecutive trees and reinforced with durable materials such as bricks and cement to prevent erosion and ensure stability. Iron planks placed over the pits allow easy tractor access for intercultural practices without disrupting the composting process. Weekly collection of organic waste like leaves and twigs into the pits initiates natural decomposition, enriching the soil and improving its structure, water retention, and nutrient content. This system promotes sustainability by reducing the need for external fertilizers and supporting eco- friendly farming practices.
