The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: This invention refers to a computer-assisted platform for identifying and prioritizing mRNA biomarker signatures in pediatric cancers using an in silico analytical framework. Pediatric cancers represent a heterogeneous type of malignancies which differ in molecular features and hence are difficult to diagnose and treat effectively. In spite of advanced transcriptomic technologies that allow for a thorough gene expression profiling, identification of reliable mRNA biomarkers still faces several limitations related to data heterogeneity, absence of an integrated analysis, and variability of computational techniques used. This invention aims at addressing the aforementioned issues by means of a complete computational workflow including integration of multiple transcriptomic datasets, statistical and machine learning techniques, and functional annotations to discover reliable mRNA biomarker signatures for pediatric cancers. This invention involves acquisition of transcriptomic data sets from public databases and further data processing that includes data filtering and cleaning, data assessment, data normalization, differential gene expression analysis, and gene feature selection. Identification of candidate biomarkers includes prioritization using machine learning methods such as statistical models and prediction models to select genes with strong diagnostic and therapeutic potential. Additionally, the analysis pipeline is based on computational verification of results using independent datasets and performance assessment in order to guarantee reproducibility and validity of the resulting biomarker signature. The invention produces an ordered list of potential mRNA biomarkers along with relevant information including functional annotation, expression levels, and involvement in pathways, network properties, and diagnostic performance. The invention can be applied in various fields such as pediatric oncology research, molecular diagnostics, pharmaceutics research, personalized medicine, and decision-support in clinical practice.
