MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617083974 A) filed by Interdigital Ce Patent Holdings, Sas on July 08, 2026, for Improvement And Extension Of Auto Relocated Block Vector Prediction (ar-Bvp).

Inventors include Chen, Ya; Le Leannec, Fabrice; Naser, Karam; and Doyen, Didier.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for improvement and extension of auto relocated block vector prediction (AR-BVP). In examples, a device (e.g., a video encoding device and/or video decoding device) may identify a reference block associated with a current block. The reference block may be an inter coded reference block. The device may derive a guiding motion vector (MV) from the reference block. The device may determine an auto-relocated motion vector prediction (AR-MVP) for the current block based on the guiding MV and/or a guiding BV. The device may include the AR-MVP as an AR-MVP candidate in an inter merge candidate list.
