Abstract: The invention relates to a new and improved process for the manufacture of the compound 1,1,1,3-tetrafluoropropene (1234ze), and of the intermediate compound 3,3- difluoro-1,1,1-trifluoropropane (245fa), which comprises a specific two step process that is performed in a specific reactor, and to this new use of said specific reactor, which is a reactor of so called SiC blocks, and wherein there are two types of tubes or channels, respectively. One type being upright-down going channels and the other type being for side to side going channels. The down going tubes or channels, respectively, are for the product manufacturing process, the side tubes or channels, respectively, for heating.
