MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647126611 A) filed by Qualcomm Incorporated on October 23, 2026, for Importance- Weighted Multi-Draft Speculative Sampling In Generative Artificial Intelligence Models.

Inventors include Khisti, Ashish; Memisevic, Roland; Behboodi, Arash; Louizos, Christos; and Behravesh, Arash.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for generating a response to a query input in a generative artificial intelligence model. An example method generally includes generating, using a plurality of instances of a first generative artificial intelligence model, a plurality of token sequences responsive to an input prompt, each token sequence of the plurality representing a candidate response to the input prompt; selecting a candidate token based on a set of importance weights, the importance weights being based on probability distributions associated with the first and a corresponding second generative artificial intelligence model; identifying a subset of token sequences from the plurality of token sequences having the candidate token; outputting the subset of token sequences to the second generative artificial intelligence model for verification; receiving an indication of an accepted token sequence from the subset of token sequences; and outputting a response to the input prompt based on the accepted token sequence.
