MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101597 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 22, 2026, for Implantable Antenna Assembly For A Wireless Implantable Device.
Inventors include M. Archana; and Niraj Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an implantable antenna assembly (100) for a wireless implantable device. The assembly (100) includes a fractal-shaped patch radiator (102) disposed on a substrate (112), including a first fractal-shaped radiating element (104) and a second fractal-shaped radiating element (106) separated by a predefined edge-to-edge distance to form a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) configuration. A partial ground plane (108) positioned opposite the radiator incorporates slots (108-2) that redistribute surface currents and reduce mutual coupling between the radiating elements. The fractal geometry increases electrical length, lowers resonance frequency, and enhances bandwidth. The antenna assembly (100) is formed by disposing the radiator (102) between the substrate (112) and superstrate (114), enclosed within a biocompatible shell (116) to prevent direct tissue interaction. Under biological tissue loading, the antenna assembly (100) provides isolation between the radiating elements and supports wideband operation within the Wireless Medical Telemetry Service (WMTS) band.
